Accelerating Action: Women in CX Leading the Charge on IWD 2025
With the growing backlash against DEI initiatives, the progress we’ve fought so hard for is under threat. Women still make up 70% of the CX workforce yet hold only 30% of management roles—a stark reminder that the barriers we face, whether rooted in gender, ethnicity, or other biases, remain persistent.
That’s why, at Women in CX, we’re not just joining the conversation—we’re leading it. This year's International Women’s Day theme, Accelerate Action, is a call to push forward, spark change, and make a real impact. For us, that means empowering women in CX and technology—not just in words but through real action, connection, and shared experiences.
Across three cities—Amsterdam, London, and Riyadh—we came together to celebrate, uplift, and champion one another in unforgettable events filled with powerful stories, inspiring conversations, and a shared commitment to driving real change. Together, we didn’t just celebrate progress—we set the momentum for the future.
Amsterdam: Designing for Differences
In Amsterdam, 45 incredible women came together at Kantar’s stunning office space for a thought-provoking event centred on Designing for Differences—an exploration of what true inclusive design in customer experience looks like. The conversations were rich, the connections deep, and the energy electric. Vicky Hampson perfectly captured the essence of the event, describing it as a “super inclusive, intimate networking experience that went beyond the brief of IWD to provide new knowledge and insights.”
We heard how Rituals create a globally consistent experience while honouring cultural nuances, proving that inclusivity and brand identity can go hand in hand. Nederlandse Spoorwegen (Dutch Railways) drew a striking parallel between the path to inclusivity and the five stages of grief, reminding us that real change is as emotional as it is structural. Marie Van Driessche from Unc Inc. also challenged us to rethink disability, asking: are limitations inherent, or does society create them? Meanwhile, Odido Nederland demonstrated that inclusivity isn’t just about policies—it’s a way of doing business, from gender transition leave to equal sponsorship of the Olympics and Paralympics.
“Designing for Differences isn’t just ethical—it’s essential.”
The data reinforced what we already knew - Kantar’s Brand Inclusion Index revealed that 67% of Dutch consumers actively consider DEI efforts when making purchase decisions. The message was clear: inclusion isn’t just ethical—it’s good business. As Agnese Spona said, “It’s not just about doing the right thing; it’s about making experiences that actually work for everyone.”
Our Amsterdam event wasn’t just about learning—it was about action. Real change happens when we challenge perspectives, advocate for marginalised voices, and ensure every customer experience is truly inclusive. As Thirza Schaap summed up, “Designing for Differences isn’t just ethical—it’s essential.” We couldn’t agree more.
London: Tackling the Unique Challenges Women Face in CX and Tech
In the heart of London, we came together for a transformative International Women's Day celebration that was far more than just a networking opportunity. Sponsored by Kantar, this empowering micro-retreat was a true call to action, bringing women together to rise, connect, and drive meaningful change.
Against the backdrop of the London skyline, attendees gathered for a morning of energising discussions, inspiring speakers, and a sense of belonging that transcended the event itself. Designed using Open Space Technology, it allowed for open dialogue on the unique challenges women face in CX and tech, fostering an environment of collaboration and innovation. As Olaoluwayode Bilewu said, “It was truly a meeting of like-minded women, actively making the effort to uplift and challenge each other to be their best selves.”
The morning kicked off with a delicious, nutritious breakfast—fueling both body and mind for the inspiring conversations ahead. Over coffee and vibrant discussion, attendees connected, shared experiences, and set the tone for a day of empowerment.

This energy carried into the panel discussion, where an incredible lineup of female leaders—Megs Armour, Shameem Smillie, Ewa Davenport, and Clare Muscutt—led a powerful conversation on how we can rise above the challenges threatening DEI progress and continue to push boundaries. Moderated by the fantastic Oriana Ascanio, the panel sparked invaluable insights that left attendees feeling motivated and ready to make a difference. Reflecting on the discussion, Clare White said it was “a thought-provoking, honest and authentic panel discussion.”
This event was about more than just one morning—it was a spark igniting something far bigger. As companies pull back on DEI, we’re doubling down on our commitment to creating spaces where women’s voices are not just heard but celebrated.
From the energy in the room to the bold conversations shared, London set the tone for what’s next. And this movement isn’t stopping here…
Riyadh: Empowering Women in CX and Tech
Our Riyadh event was a powerful testament to resilience, mentorship, and self-belief. Hosted during the holy month of Ramadan and proudly sponsored by 4SiGHT CX, the evening brought together an inspiring community of women and allies committed to breaking barriers and championing one another.
Guest speaker Sara Ahmed Alajlan captivated the audience with her insights on work-life balance, mentorship, and the importance of owning one’s space. Her words resonated deeply, sparking meaningful conversations and moments of reflection. As Lamia Nabulsi reflected, “The discussions were a great reminder that customer experience is all about people—understanding their needs, creating meaningful interactions, and fostering lasting relationships.”
“Customer experience is all about people—understanding their needs, creating meaningful interactions, and fostering lasting relationships.”
Shabreen Akram, our incredible host, described the evening as filled with “powerful women, dedicated allies, and visionary changemakers in CX!” And that was exactly the spirit of the night—a space where women came together, lifted each other up, and claimed their place with confidence.
The message was clear: When women rise together, the impact isn’t just momentary—it’s lasting, transformative, and unstoppable.
This Is Just The Beginning
As anti-progress rhetoric rises, we refuse to slow down. Instead, we’re pushing forward—breaking barriers, challenging the status quo, and advocating for ourselves, our colleagues, and our customers. Because this International Women’s Day wasn’t just about conversation—it’s about real action.
To every woman who showed up, shared her voice, and lifted others—you are the movement. Your courage, insight, and support are the driving force behind change. And to those who couldn’t be there, know we’re just getting started. The future of CX and technology needs women who lead, innovate, and transform the industry from the inside out.
We’re excited to announce that, after empowering women in London, Amsterdam, Lisbon and Riyadh, we’re bringing the movement to the USA for our first-ever WiCX Micro-Retreat pop-up at CX Leaders Advance 2025 in collaboration with CXPA.
Let’s keep this momentum alive and continue designing for inclusion, amplifying voices, and accelerating action—together. The work isn’t over, but if these events have shown us anything, it’s that when women rise, we rise together. And nothing can stop us.
